The 2011 International Youth Arts Festival ended on the 18th August thanks to everyone who came to see, take part and deliver the Festival.
International Youth Arts Festival 2011 – 1st to 18th July
More than 120 volunteers
More than 230 events took place across 9 venues in Kingston over the 18 day period.
More than 6,000 tickets distributed with additional estimated audience of more than 10,000 for free outdoor performances ,concerts ,carnival, circus and exhibitions.
The Festival featured 5,000 plus participants from 250 different participating groups
As well as local groups from Kingston and surrounding areas, Groups came from across UK including London, Birmingham, Southampton, Bristol, Canterbury, Coventry and Brighton.
International participants from USA (including Florida, South Carolina and Indiana), Ireland (Dublin and Galway), South Korea, Spain and Serbia

2011 IYAF PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
July 1st – “Raise the Roof!” - OPENING NIGHT CONCERT- kicks off the festival in style featuring taster performances. Dance, Music, Theatre and Circus are featured in this awe-inspiring evening which will leave the audience desperate to see what the weeks ahead will bring!
July 3rd – Carnival time in Kingston presented by IYAF- Kingston’s streets will come alive with contemporary carnival performers, giant puppets and costumed performers. An outdoor stage at All Saints Church gardens will keep the party pumping with music provided by Kingston based music promotions company – Our Friends Records.
July 6th – “Spring Awakening” – GALA NIGHT AT THE ROSE THEATRE Arts Educational Schools London presents the brilliant musical in the presence of HRH the Earl of Wessex.
July 7th – Pants On Fire bring ‘The Fumidor’ to ACT at Kingston College. Pants On Fire premiered ‘Ovid’s Metamorphoses’ at IYAF 2010 before its sell-out success at Edinburgh where it won ‘Best Of Edinburgh’ before transferring to Broadway.
July 11th – “The Birdies” – Odeon Screen 3, Rotunda, Kingston – IYAF Short Film Festival organised by Kingston University Students
July 15th – “Folk Night” – CornerHOUSE – Following on from the sell-out success in 2010, this popular night returns with sweet melodies, acoustic vibes and beautiful lyrics in this intimate venue.
July 16th –17th – “The Little Bird Festival” – Fairfield Park – 2 Days of Circus, Music, Dance, Interactive Installations, Street & Visual Arts, Workshops & Theatre.
July 17th – “Sweeney Todd” – The Rose – The National Youth Music Theatre with a rousing production of one of Sondheim’s greatest works.
