Rick Astley “Rocked the Rose” for IYAF!
Mar 8th
11th April 2010 – Rose Theatre
Rick Astley holds the record for being the only male solo artist to have his first 8 singles reach the the top ten in the UK and has sold approximately 40 million records worldwide…. so what next? An incredible sold out gig at the Rose Theatre which saw Rick performing with his ‘weekend band’ – The Luddites.
The night was phenomenal, with over 800 people singing along to support band the Reptiles & joyously dancing in the aisles at the magnificent sound (and sight) of The Luddites!
The night raised some much needed funds for IYAF and importantly had the audience (who spanned about six generations) cheering, smiling and laughing all night long.
Rick Astley – IYAF is Never Gonna Give You up.

AUDITION FOR A PLAY AT THE ROSE THEATRE!
“None But Friends” is a play about the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381. It
will be presented in modern dress at The Rose Theatre as part of the
International Youth Arts Festival in July 2010.
The play is written by Allan Swift and Bob Tomson. Allan has written
for Hollyoaks, Casualty, EastEnders and The Bill and has directed
numerous plays in London theatres; he is currently lecturing on the
Screenwriting module at Kingston University. Bob Tomson is one the
West End’s most successful/leading directors; he currently has two hit
shows in London: Blood Brothers (which has been running for over
twenty years) and Dreamboats and Petticoats and he’s about to direct
the world tour of Evita; he also directs for The Bill and Doctors.
Bob will attend rehearsals of None But Friends so this is a great
opportunity for the cast to benefit from the wealth of his experience.
We are looking for a boy aged between twelve and fourteen to play
Richard II, who was King of England at the time. The character is
central to two scenes and has a small but crucial speaking part.
There are also two crowd scenes (and small parts) open to those aged
16 and above; an ability to sing will be an advantage.
The play will be directed by Allan Swift with Tanju Duncan as
Assistant Director.
Those wishing to audition must have have parental consent.
