The IYAF Vision

Aims
• To deliver a festival of national importance annually in and around the Rose Theatre in Kingston showcasing the very best in youth arts
• To deliver residencies, projects and workshops throughout the year with arts professionals of the highest quality that engage with young people and allow them to participate in the festival
• To inspire young people to producing the very best work they are capable of
• To allow young people opportunities to create, produce and contribute to managing parts of the festival and projects within it
• To recognise and promote the role the arts can play in breaking down barriers and furthering understanding, empathy and cross cultural activity
• To actively engage with a range of art forms and be on the cutting edge of new work and ideas
• To create and share high calibre work that can appeal to a large and diverse audience
• To actively create projects that reach out to those young people who are disadvantaged or face barriers to participation.
• To train young people and prepare them for employment in the creative arts
Mission Statement
To create a nationally recognised International Youth Arts Festival in and around the Rose Theatre in Kingston which promotes, shares and produces extraordinary high calibre work in a variety of art forms that will reach as wide and diverse an audience as possible. To actively engage with the local and wider community, particularly young people from variety of cultures and backgrounds and allow them through workshops and projects to utilise their skills and become involved in high quality performance and production. To allow young people the opportunities to be the chief protagonists in the development and management of the festival.
