Without volunteers Creative Youth couldn’t exist. Over the last three years our volunteering programme has developed significantly. We now have a core team of 50 volunteers, increasing to more than 120 during the International Youth Arts Festival  period. The volunteers  work on a multitude of projects and are accredited through the Vinspire programme. The majority of these volunteers had almost no experience of the arts when they began and, for many, it has been a life-changing experience. Volunteers are required to carry out a number of roles both throughout the year and especially during the Festival.

There are a number of benefits to being a Creative Youth volunteer. All Creative Youth Volunteers are part of the Nationally Recognised V awards scheme, and can work towards a number of certificates. Volunteering with Creative Youth can help :-

But most importantly the best thing about being an Creative Youth volunteer is that they have fun!

We are alsways looking for new volunteers to help both promote the charity and take part in the run up to and participate during the Festival.

 

 

How much time will I need to give? As much or as little time as you can give! The hours individuals are required depend on the role and event they are supporting, and the time an individual can afford to give.

 

Are there restrictions on who can perform these roles (e.g. mobility, age, etc) ? We are fully inclusive.  All venues and our office have full access. Volunteers must be a minimum of 13 years of age.

 

What do we need? We are looking for people who can offer any of the following skills/experience :

 

IYAF 2012

 

Ambassadors:-  Throughout the year we require individuals with good interpersonal skills who can promote the vision and fun of the charity, festival and being a volunteer. They help at fundraisers, visit potential volunteer sites and community events in order to help raise funds and create awareness of the charity and festival.

 

Web Designers: - Currently we have a need for an individual or group of individuals, to review, design, implement and maintain the IYAF website. The website is key to the success of Creative Youth and IYAF and we need experienced innovative individuals with a good knowledge of website design to help ensure ours is one of the most current and exciting available.

 

Festival and Event Photographers:-  Throughout the year we require individuals with experience in  Photography to help document and capture the spirit of  our events and IYAF.   To volunteer as a Festival and Event Photographer ideally you would have experience of photographing events.

 

Festival Front of House & Meet and Greet: – Throughout the Festival companies will be coming to Kingston from a variety of locations. We require individuals with good interpersonal skills to welcome visiting companies to the festival, looking after them through the day and assisting in the management of the box office and front of house duties during performances.

 

Administrators & Production office:- Throughout the year  individuals  are needed to help out with various administration tasks either in the Creative Youth office or remotely.

Festival & Event marketing & publicity: – Throughout the year there are various events but for IYAF, with over 100 Events across 9 Venues we require personable and adaptable individuals with the ability to assist in raising the profile of the IYAF, both in advance and during the festival. Key activities would be selling tickets by distributing flyers and posters, assisting in mail outs, helping with press and media, assisting with the management of facebook / twitter/YouTube accounts and coming up with your own ideas as to how we can market the festival and Creative Youth.

 

Festival & Event Technical Support: - We require individuals with experience in Sound, lighting and stage management services.  Plus be able to carry out turnarounds between performances for various venues and events throughout the festival.  To volunteer as a technical volunteer you must have some previous experience.
